SCRIP is just like buying a gift card.  If you buy a SCRIP card for $100 you can use that card to buy $100 worth of merchandise, gas, food, whatever the card is for.  You are not out any extra money.  You get back what you pay in.  How St. Bernard's earns money from these gift card purchases is through the Merchants.  The merchants pay St. Bernard a percentage of the amount of the card sold.  They do not charge the consumer the percentage.  It's their way to get you into their stores.  All of the merchants use different percentages. Here are a couple of examples.

Scrip is available for purchase after all Saturday and Sunday Masses and on Fridays at the Rectory from 11:30 am -1:00 pm
