Who are you, what are you doing, and why are you doing it here?
My name is Rick Bzdok. I am the new Music and Liturgy coordinator, and my answers are quite simple.I am from St. Cloud, Minnesota, just north of Minneapolis. I am the 8th in a family of 10 kids. My extended family includes 40 cousins, 6 brothers and sisters’ in-law, and 15 nieces and nephews. I was raised in a Catholic household, but didn’t fully take on my faith until I was 19 years old. Before that I spent a year going to college only to learn I needed to take a year away from “MY” life and try “HIS” life.
I joined a ministry that my sister Cheryl had spent two years with called NET Ministries. I did not desire to go out and serve others for a year, but what I saw in my sister was her strong stout faith and her certain conviction in the love of pure sacrifice; motherhood. She lived a powerful life of freedom in the arms of mother church, and I wanted that freedom. So I took a leap of faith and trusted that this ministry could serve me as I served it. I was not wrong. I quickly found answers to questions I had always asked and I encountered Jesus in the mission field more times than I can count.
I finished with NET after two years of service and felt called to serve in a new manner. I prayed and after too many hours of denial I finally consented to the Lords will. I left my large and wonderful family and drove south only to join another large and wonderful family here in Crawfordsville. So I am here today and for as long as I can be, to continue on that leap of faith, and to follow the Sacred Heart of Jesus as his disciple.
My job is first to love you, the community, and second to bring You, the lovely people of St. Bernard’s into the heart of this living ministry. Without your talents my ministry will wither, but with your talents the parish and its people will come to life. So please, seek me out so I may know you, and so we can grow this ministry and this body of Christ.
This ministry is not “MY” ministry; it is “HIS” ministry. So pray for me that I may do the will of the father, and serve you, his people, faithfully always.
